World Trade Organization Protests

The city of Seattle has ultimatley agreed to pay off 250 thousand dollars. They wre paying off a law suit that was called by protestors during the World Trade Organization protests. During the 1999 protests in Seattle, the protestors claim that their rights were violated and not arrested in a legal manner. United States district judge says that the officers did not need to arrest these people, while law enforcement says they were only arrested because they failed to disperse when told to do so. A total of about 600 arrests were made, this disrupted the open ceramonies of the WTO, though they say that the 250 thousand dollars should be more than enough. It is said that the officers even ran out of tear gas and pepper spray in order to try and contain a rowdy crowd.

Congress Approval Rating

According to a recent New York times poll, last month Congress's approval rating was the lowest it has been in a while. The astonishing 9% approval rating may not mean much to the people who don't really know, but when compared to other things that Americans find more morally acceptable is truly surprising. More Americans, 11% approval rating, think that polygamy is more acceptable than how Congress is running now. Pornography has a much higher approval rating than Congress, it has a 30% rating. These are just two examples that have higher acceptance ratings, even notions like "America going Communist" have Congress beat. Congress is really unpopular to the people of this nation, and obviously what they are doing is not sitting well with Americans.

DREAM Act

The DREAM Act, or H.R. 1842, was first introduced to the Senate in 2001. Recently in May of this year, the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, reintroduced the bill to the Senate. This Bill is intended to provide relief and education for any illegal immigrant minor in the United States. The Joint Committee on Taxation, in 2010, said that the bill can possibly decrease deficit by about 1.4 billion dollars and increase governmental revenue by 2.3 billion. The Bill is still in the process to see whether or not it shall become a law.

Democratic Party

As the 2012 midterm election is soaring closer and closer, President Barrack Obama's reelection campaign is said to be focusing on his foreign policy success. The highlight of Obama's success in foreign affiliations would have to be the seal team six infiltration of Osama Bin Laden's hideout, resulting in the death of the long time Al-Qaeda leader. It is not certain that the reelection team will have a good chunk of their material on this because for now, they are refusing to comment on any assumptions having to do with this topic. I think that Obama has done a marvelous job in handling the whole Middle East Crisis that involved America, he did end the war in Iraq, and managed to eradicate several key players in Al-Qaeda.

Republican Party

A likely contender for the Republican Party presidential nomination is shockingly, Herman Cain. This member of the GOP openly challenged the African American people of the nation to vote Republican by saying that they are "brainwashed" into voting purely democratic, and not even giving a conservative point of view a chance. This spooked up some controversy because it implies that he didn't consider the fact that there are many educated African Americans who enter the polls and vote. This is ironic because Herman Cain is African American himself. Prior to the statement that Democratic African Americans are "Brainwashed, he found himself asking ",Why is the Republican Party basically poison for so many African Americas?" It is interesting to me that it seems he is downgrading the overwhelmingly Democratic black folks, perhaps he would have a severely different opinion on the matter if he was running for the Democratic nomination.

Dont ask, Dont Tell

"Dont Ask Dont Tell" is a policy in which the the United States Military personnel will not ask if a certain person is homosexual, and the homosexual person can not say that he is. In a sense, the military would rather not know. Recently the policy has been repelled. A recent poll, in which the people were inquired, a total of 74% Republicans voted that it should be repelled, and that gays who openly admit they are homosexual should be allowed to serve in the armed forces. This is interesting because Republicans believe that marriage should be preserved by not allowing same sex marriage.
Personally I think that as long one is in top physical form and can shoot an M4 Carbine up to distances of 600 meters with precise accuracy, and can handle hauling over 60 pounds of extra equipment on their back through extreme conditions, behind enemy lines, after surviving the grueling process of Paris Island and Camp Pendlton training, then he or she should be allowed to serve in the military.

Bill of Rights

The Westboro Baptist Church was recently involved in a highly controversial court case that was proctered by the Supreme Court. The reason being is that they had picketted and protested at a funeral of a fallen troop, who gave his life serving the United States in battle. They used such hurtful profanity and had absolutley no regard for the feelings of the mourning family. Members of the church state that they were just practicing Their right to freedom of speech. Although the funeral was private, they were not actualy on cemetary grounds, thus making it perfectly legal under the first amendment of the Constitution. In an eight to one majority vote, the defendants, the Westboro Baptist Church, were acquited, a local bystander said "Do I agree with their views? No, but do i agree with the fact that they have the right to do this and be here? Unfortunatley for all of us, yes."

First of all, they have the most radical views on everything about America. Second of all, they would not have the luxury of practicing their first amendement, which America provides, if it were not for soldiers who ultimatley began the nation and went on to protect the nation in numerous wars.
