
The Westboro Baptist Church was recently involved in a highly controversial court case that was proctered by the Supreme Court. The reason being is that they had picketted and protested at a funeral of a fallen troop, who gave his life serving the United States in battle. They used such hurtful profanity and had absolutley no regard for the feelings of the mourning family. Members of the church state that they were just practicing Their right to freedom of speech. Although the funeral was private, they were not actualy on cemetary grounds, thus making it perfectly legal under the first amendment of the Constitution. In an eight to one majority vote, the defendants, the Westboro Baptist Church, were acquited, a local bystander said "Do I agree with their views? No, but do i agree with the fact that they have the right to do this and be here? Unfortunatley for all of us, yes."
First of all, they have the most radical views on everything about America. Second of all, they would not have the luxury of practicing their first amendement, which America provides, if it were not for soldiers who ultimatley began the nation and went on to protect the nation in numerous wars.
